Lessons – How link-global lessons work
We suggest that you watch the Free Tutorial which is provides a short introduction to link-global. May we also suggest that you learn the lessons one by one in the order they appear on the lesson page. They have been designed to be learnt in that progressive order, but depending on your ability and your particular needs you may wish to learn them in a different order. You can learn at your own pace when time provides. Each lesson has a single topic. The Free Sample Lesson, which can be accessed free of charge, is not a full lesson.

Each conversation section is broken down into phrases and displayed line by line. Watch and learn from the video demonstration how the words are pronounced in Mandarin. Learn how to write the Chinese characters correctly. Notice how each Chinese character is given the same space and represents one syllable of spoken Chinese. The characters are based on pictorial representations of people and things. Over centuries of use they have become stylised. However, before you study the characters you may want to concentrate on learning the words and how to pronounce them properly.

Lessons – How the Lesson Screen works
The lesson screen that you will use is simple. The first thing that will attract your attention is the presence of the two readers who appear in the video section. The lesson will start with them reading through the first page of the lesson line by line; the first reader in English, the second in Mandarin. On the left hand side of the screen you can follow the lesson’s conversation in both English and Mandarin.

Once the read-through of each page has finished you will need to select a conversation line on the left-hand side of the screen by clicking on it. Click the blue lines to watch the English videos. Click the red lines to watch the Chinese videos. Three lines will then appear under the video screen.

The top line will show the English text; the middle line will show the Pinyin pronunciation of the Chinese; the bottom line shows the written Chinese characters. Below that there is an animation box. Click on each Chinese character to see how it should be written. Click on the ‘How to say?’ button to hear it pronounced. Work through the lesson until you are familiar with the screen. Use the buttons as many times as you need to. Hear and see the Chinese being spoken and written. Say the words aloud to make sure your pronunciation is correct. Try writing some of the characters yourself stroke by stroke.
